Meet Seldon’s new VP of Alliances Tom Davies, growing our strategic partnerships function

Over the last few months, I’ve been focused on growing our strategic partnerships function with the aim of building out our network of best-in-class partners across the globe as Seldon continues to expand. It’s been an incredibly varied and exciting experience so far and I’m delighted to be joining the company at such a pivotal point in its growth trajectory.

In-depth Tech Experience

I join Seldon after having gained more than 10 years of experience in the industry at a variety of technology organisations. Most recently, I looked after strategic alliances for technology intelligence platform, Snow Software, and before that, I spent more than eight years in enterprise software sales, working at companies like Adobe and Oracle

I started my career on the IT services side at two of the world’s largest Global Systems Integrators, HCL Technologies and DXC Technology. Having had first-hand experience with these types of organisations prior to joining a vendor, I’ve gained a strategic insight into what potential partners would be looking for in a software provider, and I’m looking forward to bringing this knowledge to Seldon.

Currently, I’m focused on identifying and qualifying the next generation of partners that we want to work with here at Seldon and formulating our Partner GTM strategy. I’m putting the foundations in place to develop these relationships into long-term successful commercial partnerships that benefit both our partners and customers.

Partnerships at Seldon

At Seldon, we see a huge market opportunity across the partnerships ecosystem. Customers across every major industry vertical who view Machine Learning (ML) as a top priority for their business are looking for trusted partners to support them in implementing real-world ML use cases that deliver tangible business value and long-term customer success. Our partnerships ecosystem at Seldon spans Global System Integrators, Data & AI consultancies, technology platform providers, managed service providers, and resellers.

In the long-term, I intend to build out a team of partnership managers to leverage these relationships and demonstrate the value of our product suite. Amplifying the benefits of Seldon Core and Seldon Deploy will enable prospective partners to incorporate disruptive technologies into their business model. This is a great way to facilitate rapid growth and expansion for our partners and a fantastic way for us at Seldon to expand to more markets.

The Future of MLOps

Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) itself is a disruptive industry and what attracted me to Seldon is that, as a company, we are well-positioned to capitalise on it – especially as more and more blue-chip companies begin to deploy the technology. Another key focus of mine is building and strengthening the relationships between Seldon and our partners’ ML practice teams and GTM account teams. It is vital that we show an understanding of how partners go to market and how Seldon’s technology can add value to their business model. This will be a core component in building out our partnerships ecosystem.

I’m pleased to have joined Seldon at such an exciting time with the team more than doubling in size in the past year. As I continue to establish my team over the next 12 months, and if you feel that you’d be a good fit for Seldon, do get in touch via our careers page.

Commenting on Tom’s appointment, Founder & CEO Alex Housley, said:

“Tom has a wealth of knowledge about partnerships and we’re keen to leverage this here at Seldon. Identifying key partners and areas of expansion for our extensive product suite is key to ensuring that machine learning can be deployed at scale across multiple industries.

“Tom is extremely well-placed to steer our partnerships team and has demonstrated a clear passion for cultivating relationships in his experienced career to date. In the short amount of time Tom has been with us, he has already become an integral member of the team and we look forward to seeing how he builds out our strategic partnerships function in the future.”
